February is National Teen Dating Violence Awareness and Prevention Month (TDVAM). It is estimated that 1 in 10 teens will experience dating violence in their lifetime. Now is the time to amplify our collective efforts and cast a meaningful light on this important issue…

Adolescents in abusive relationships suffer trauma that lasts well beyond their teen years. Unhealthy patterns often emerge later in life, shaping relationships and manifesting into real behavioral and health consequences. Together, we can raise the nation’s awareness about teen dating violence and promote safe, healthy relationships. Here are just a few things that we can do:

  1. Discuss the warning signs, emotional and physical.
  2. Get involved. Be involved. Stay connected.
  3. Discuss the characteristics of positive, healthy relationships.
  4. Ask your school administrator to include this as a February lesson in classrooms.
  5. Build a support network, sharpen your tools.

Communication is KEY! Join the conversation.
