A child’s vision is the gateway to the outside world. It makes possible the visual experiences of color, contours and textures. Eyes also play a critical role in development. Vision is intimately linked to learning, especially at a young age when verbal skills are limited. If a child has an undiagnosed or uncorrected vision problem, it threatens to prevent them from realizing their maximum potential.

Routine eye exams are a MUST! But, what else can you do to keep those peepers healthy?

  1. Eat well: introduce a healthy diet full of fruits & vegetables. Vitamins and minerals will do wonders for your eyes.
  2. Sleep well: get a full night’s rest. The eye uses rest to heal and recover from the many irritants experienced throughout the day.
  3. Watch well: limit your screen time. Eyes fatigue after long periods of time when subjected to blue light, especially during the evening hours.
  4. Outdoor well: get outdoors. Spending time outside will give the eyes a break from close-up vision activities.
  5. Protect well: protect your eyes. In the sun, wear sunglasses with UV protection or seek shade. In the gym or on the field, wear protective eyewear to limit injuries.

Eyes help us make sense of this world. Invest in an eye care plan and you will SEE the benefits to your overall health.
